Retail Banking Regulations

Retail Banking Regulations

A regulatory project to respond to Spanish Royal Decree-Law 19/2017, on basic payment accounts, transfer of payment accounts and comparability of commissions, for customers to be able to compare products more easily and move within the Union, benefiting from an internal market in the financial services field. This directive is intended to

  • barra-bluetab Make access to basic banking services easier for potential customers
  • barra-bluetab Improve the transparency and comparability of commissions applied to payment accounts
  • barra-bluetab Improve the transfer of payment accounts

The objective is “to establish common rules of the game for all credit institutions and payment service providers”.

We participated in the process of setting the functional requirements in terms of the products affected, customers (natural persons), level of application (at the “account” level) to ensure proper project execution. With that starting point, we carried out the analysis of the entity’s information platform to determine how to extract the information necessary for the report, requesting the necessary information that does not exist at source. To ensure that the information is correct and necessary for the report, sampling or sets of information specimens are taken with the users.

In the project context, the transformation is also modelled and implemented in PowerCenter, for development of the modelling processes to enable the commercial product, customer, commissions associated with each product in the application period, interest charged and paid, interest rates to be obtained, as well as the loading and extraction of information that is not on the platform. Our team creates final tables and defines the output and reporting structure.

To ensure the performance of the developments, a recovery of the entire volume of information associated with an account (several customers associated with it) in one year needs to be addressed. Similarly included within the scope of the collaboration are the necessary technical and functional documentation for the developments, the execution of comprehensive testing, test documentation and troubleshooting.

Transfer of the information is carried out by consolidating the information obtained and it is loaded in final tables, downloading information from final table to flat file for transfer. Exploitation of the information is finalised in MicroStrategy with availability of information detail for customer queries, as well as the creation of reports for exploitation of the information in reporting.

Management reporting with cost apportionment

Management reporting with cost apportionment

Construction of Global Platform for one of the leading banks in the Spanish market. The system has to enable generation of reports (pdfs, ppts, msgs) to the Bank’s executive layer from a monolithic application-based pipeline with django as the framework.

The project primarily consists of the design and implementation of a microservices solution that meets the scalability, flexibility and versatility requirements defined under the client’s requirements for creation of a product that generates the entity’s cost information by running an ETL job.

Bluetab performed the analysis of the group’s global cost information, extracting indicators of interest to senior management and identifying areas where to reduce those costs, providing graphical reports in ppt, with a multi-user, scalable, generalised solution to enable rapid adaptation to new analytics or new changes in requirements.

A state-of-the-art solution was implemented, reducing development time in the process of developing new analytics and algorithms by the user, proposing an App in which the user has a catalogue of functions to use and can combine them to form a pipeline with the processing they want.

Our fully compatible architecture uses Docker and Kubernetes (OpenShift) containers to enable horizontal scaling based on microservices that expose the data through various APIs and with a scalable, document-based database to solve the problem of the mutability of data sets and concurrency. Persistence is based on indexing the information; we performed code refactoring using atomisation and parametrisation of functions, and for DevOps scopes, deployment pipelines are created and configured.

The main technologies applied are: Python, django, Apache Airflow, mongoDB, PostgreSQL, and RabbitMQ as the messaging protocol.

Virtual remote desktop

Virtual remote desktop

Because there is no integrated CRM for corporate banking that contains customer data, opportunities, visits and all customer relationship information, this generates the need for this project with the aim of providing global multi-entity coverage.

Bluetab is developing the part corresponding to persistence, transformations and transfers from the big data platform to the Institution’s Salesforce CRM. This project originated with mobility capacity to get close to the customer, a collaborative environment where several people can help manage the opportunity (Executive + Product Specialists).

It supports start-to-end processes by recording traceability of opportunities at each part of the process.

Omnichannel infrastructure

Omnichannel infrastructure

A Spanish multinational banking group asked us to provide its various group entities with an infrastructure with the necessary data to construct its customer’s “journey”. This solution will make it possible to analyse the customer journey from start to finish, i.e. from the time the customer displays an announcement or an advertising campaign until they acquire a banking product.

In this project, data ingestions are performed from external sources such as: Salesforce Marketing Cloud (a marketing tool that lets you manage marketing campaigns across multiple channels), Adobe Analytics (an analytics tool that gathers all information relating to user activity on the web or in mobile applications), and Marketing Channels (Facebook, Sizmek, Google AdWords, Search Console, etc.).

The development is based on preliminary analysis and design of the data model for the external sources; a comprehensive security analysis that determines the sensitive information for the model that will need to be encrypted; naming assignment in the corporate dictionary with registration of the reference physical model in RAW and Master for external sources. An analysis was also conducted for mastering and generation of the guidance document for mastering development.
The main technologies in this environment are HDFS databases, Avro and Parquet; ETL processing in Scala/Spark in the corporate Data Lake, with exploitation in the corporate CRM-Salesforce and MicroStrategy.

360° customer vision model

360° customer vision model

We are the primary Big Data platform partner to one of the leading global financial institutions in technology. In the framework of our collaboration, the various group entities are provided with an infrastructure with the data necessary to build the Manager-Customer relationship. This solution will make it possible to analyse a 360º view of the customer-manager relationship from start to finish, i.e. from the time the web manager displays an announcement or an advertising campaign to a customer until they acquire a banking product.

We developed the project based on a definition of variables, alignment of concepts, importance of the customer relationship and contactability by means of face-to-face and digital means; with subsequent naming in the corporate dictionary and subsequent registration of the reference physical model in RAW and Master for external sources. We executed an analysis for mastering and generation of the guidance document for mastering development.

The main technologies in this environment are HDFS databases, Avro and Parquet; ETL processing in Scala/Spark in the corporate Data Lake, performing planning in Control-M.

Unified Risk System

Unified Risk System

Within financial institutions, the Data Units or Information Systems areas develop reports and scorecards to facilitate user areas’ work. Once the reports are in production, a security and governance framework needs to be established that defines the permissions for access to them.

In this context, Bluetab is developing the information access model, determining the criteria for controlling access to the data:

  • barra-bluetab Access restriction. Establishing which users can access which reports (e.g. the Risks User can access the RDA Scorecard).
  • barra-bluetab Data restriction. Indicating, within a report, what data can be accessed (e.g. an office manager can only view the data for their office).

In this context, Bluetab is developing the security model for the reports of a leading Spanish financial institution by implementing two types of security levels, and enabling this to provide coverage to the various group entities:

  • barra-bluetab Access Security: managed through Catalogue Groups, as a method of organisation to which users can be assigned while giving access to the various scorecard elements. Therefore, these groups will allow a user or users to access a report, or not. Users are associated with a tool catalogue group with access to a particular set of reports.
  • barra-bluetab Data Security: managed through Application Roles, as a feature that enables control over what data a user or users assigned to the role can or cannot query. Therefore, these roles will allow, or not, a user to view detailed information on data at the customer or office level. However, users will always be able to view aggregated information.

This project has been carried out within the institution’s technological stack, implementing the security model in OBIEE.
