Conglomerate of multinational companies in various sectors

Migrating to Big Data platforms on GCP cloud.

Our client is a conglomerate of multinational companies with significant presence in sectors such as banking and insurance, retail, hospitality, restaurants, real estate, education, administration, lottery, cinemas and services, and is considered to be one of the three most valuable brands in its region. As part of its transformation plan, it has initiated the process of migrating its systems to cloud platforms and using big data technologies.

At Bluetab Peru we have collaborated with them in defining and implementing the corporate cloud strategy and guidelines and the subsequent deployment in each of its companies. This involved defining work architectures and best practice documents in Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD), as well as implementing a use case based on DataFusion and AirFlow technologies.

Additionally, software was developed to control access to Apache Druid, and the pipeline between was deployed between Dev., Test and Prod, a metadata monitor and the integration with its Governance platform was developed.

With this, our client has successfully opened its architectures to cloud services and scalable systems to provide its businesses with efficiency and growth in data management.

A leading financial institution in its geographical region

ATM channel shortage monitoring model.

Our client is a universal financial services entity and a leader in its geographical region. Like the entire sector, and in its process of continual optimisation of its ATM channel management, it is developing monitoring models for its fraud management.

At Bluetab Peru we have worked with them on development of a model to enable anticipation of “critical shortages” in the agency cash machine tables and to segment the operational risk into its source axes (internal fraud, operational errors or technical faults) and so generate various levels of management alerts for different areas.

Our client has managed to provide its business users with a monitoring system capable of optimising, among other aspects, the level of effectiveness of the fraud detection model in the shortages, those that generate complaints, those that are repetitive and those produced by technical faults. We continue to work with them to make improvements and to carry out new projects in the area and the expectation is that we will extend the model to several geographic regions.

Leading multinational in beverage sales and distribution

Optimisation of Supply Chain processes.

Our client is a Mexican multinational leader in the beverage sales and distribution sector, with a major establishment in America and recently acquired by a US group. In its continual optimisation process, it has embarked on a significant digital transformation process aimed at providing intelligence and automation to its supply chain management (SCM), from suppliers to delivery to its customers.

At Bluetab Mexico we are collaborating with them in defining the KPIs for the various areas involved (sales, purchasing, inventory, asset management, transport and production), the building of the DWH and the design of the consumption/visualisation layer on MicroStrategy.

Our client has managed to equip its business users with flexible, automated decision-making tools enabling evolution toward self-consumption of information. We continue to work with them to make improvements and to carry out new projects in the area and the expectation is that we will extend the model to several geographic regions.

Multinational energy sector utility

Multinational energy sector utility

50% optimisation of AWS costs.

Our client is a multinational leader in the energy sector with investments in extraction, generation and distribution, with a significant presence in Europe and Latin America. It has undertaken a major digital transformation process in recent years, moving from a classic legacy on-premises closed architecture strategy to a strategy of flexible, non-limiting architectures based on AWS cloud platforms and ad-hoc design solutions for each use case.

Bluetab Mexico began the segregation of the use cases carried out in its HQ to adapt them to the global requirements environment. This segregation required the establishment of a Data Lake in which the various use cases are being implemented under governance models that manage the cycle from the sources and the implementation of analytical models for various business requirements.

In addition to managing the complexity of the end-to-end project and developing the models, redesigning and optimising the AWS architectures saved our client 50% of their starting costs.

We have a Plan B

Bluetab

The Reto Pelayo Vida (Pelayo Life Challenge, an annual event for women survivors of cancer) sponsored by /bluetab, has always sought remote parts of the planet, distant locations and extraordinary landscapes, but the world is experiencing times we have not seen before, and the safety of those on the expedition must be ensured. So Plan B has been put into effect, in line with the circumstances:

The expedition will depart from Bilbao and, in three stages, will circumnavigate the entire peninsula, passing through the Strait and stopping in Malaga and Valencia to finish in Barcelona.

A model to catch them all!

The creation of descriptive and predictive models is based on statistics and recognising patterns in groups with similar characteristics. We have created a methodology that enables detection of anomalies using historical ATM channel transaction behaviour for one of the most important financial institutions in Latin America.

Together with the client and a group of statisticians and technology experts, we created a tool for audit processes that facilitates the detection of anomalies in the fronts that is most important and open to action for the business. From operational issues, availability issues and technology errors to internal or external fraud.

The ATM channel represents an area of business that is subject to direct contact with the public who use it, and is vulnerable for reasons such as connectivity and hardware faults. The number of daily transactions in a network of over 2,000 ATMs involves a huge number of indicators and metrics of technological and operational natures. Currently, a group of auditors is given the task of manually sampling and analysing this data stream to identify risks in the operation of the ATM channel.

The operational characteristics mean that the task of recognising patterns is different for each ATM, as the technology in each unit and the volume of transactions is influenced by factors such as the seasonal phenomenon, demography and even the economic status of the area. To tackle this challenge, /bluetab developed a framework around Python and SQL for segmentation of the most appropriate typologies according to variable criteria, and the detection of anomalies across a set of over 40 key indicators for channel operation. This involved unsupervised learning models and time series that enable us to differentiate between groups of comparable cash machines and achieve more accurate anomaly detection.

The purely mathematical results of this framework were condensed and translated into business-manageable vulnerability metrics, which we developed together with the end user in Qliksense. In this way, we handed the client an analysis environment that covers all the significant operational aspects, but which also enables incorporation of other scenarios on demand.

Now the auditors can analyse months of information considering the temporary market situation, geographic location or technological and transactional characteristics, where they previously only had the capacity to analyse samples.

We are working with our client to drive initiatives to incorporate technology and make the operation more efficient and speed up the response time in case of any incidents.
